Two Schuylkill County women are facing charges following an alleged fight last month in Pottsville.
Court records show that police in Pottsville were called to the area of W. Market and N. 7th streets shortly after 7 p.m. on July 14 for a report of a fight.
At the scene, police say they spoke with Lisa Simon, 22, of Tamaqua, who said she’d just been jumped by Maria Grosser, 28, of Ashland, and a woman only known as Ra-Ra.
Simon said Grosser and Ra-Ra punched her in the head and face multiple times and then fled the area in Grosser’s vehicle.
Police say they noticed minor swelling to Simon’s forehead.
Simon reportedly told police that she wanted to fight Grosser and said that she’d be in Pottsville. She said she’d been in the city visiting family that day.
Messages between Simon and Grosser, that Simon shared with police, reportedly show the two women arranging the fight.
Simon was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-East in Pottsville for treatment of her injuries.
Police say witnesses to the fight gave them a description of Grosser’s vehicle, an orange Jeep. Butler Township Police confirmed to their colleagues in Pottsville that that is Grosser’s vehicle.
Grosser was contacted by police and asked to come to City Hall for an interview. Police say she denied knowing anything about the reported fight and that she would not comply with their request for an interview.
Simon and Grosser have each been ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 22 before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley to answer to charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct.
