Schuylkill County Under Heat Advisory Through Wednesday Night

High temps in the 90s, high humidity today and tomorrow

National Weather Service has placed Schuylkill County under a Heat Advisory starting this morning and extending until tomorrow night.

The Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. Tuesday until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Heat Index values of up to 104 are expected.

High heat and humidity pose health risks, especially for individuals with chronic conditions.

Those suffering from respiratory diseases like asthma or COPD may experience increased difficulty breathing. Meanwhile, people with cardiovascular issues face elevated risks, as extreme heat strains the heart by causing it to work harder to maintain a safe body temperature.

People with these conditions are advised to stay indoors during the hottest part of the day, stay hydrated, and seek immediate medical help if experiencing dizziness, nausea, or shortness of breath.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected in the area on Wednesday and Thursday and it should break this short-lived heat wave.

On Thursday, the high temperature may not even reach 80 degrees. In fact, the latest National Weather Service forecast doesn’t have Schuylkill County hitting 80 degrees until the end of the weekend or early next week.
