A week before she allegedly stole a sack of quarters from a Minersville apartment, police say they found Brandina Grass, 40, passed out in the Minersville Laundromat.
According to court papers, police were called to the laundromat on Sunbury St. at about 6:51 a..m. on July 8 for a report of a female asleep at a table.
Police say when they arrived, Grass, who is homeless, was asleep under a laundry sorting table at the business. They say they woke Grass up to check to see if she needed medical attention.
When she did awaken, police say, Grass got up off the floor and began pacing back and forth, acting erratically. She was saying that she was waiting for her roommate, who was doing laundry.
Police say it was evident that Grass was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They say she could not stand still or speak coherently.
A male also in the laundromat at this time said he didn’t know Grass and wasn’t her roommate, police say.
As Grass walked back and forth, police say they noticed a bulge in her pants pocket. When they asked what that was, Grass reportedly said, “bubble … you know, a bubble pipe.”
Grass allegedly removed the pipe from her pocket. It was wrapped with a napkin and police say it contained a burnt residue. A sample of that residue tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine, police say.
For this incident, Grass is being charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
A week after this incident, police arrested Grass after she allegedly broke into an apartment and refused to leave. She was later found reportedly with a plastic bag of quarters that belonged to the tenant whose apartment she’d allegedly burglarized.
Grass is being held at Schuylkill County Prison on 10% of $10,000 bail. She’ll be in court for preliminary hearings on both these cases on Aug. 5.
