A Schuylkill County man was jailed over the weekend after he allegedly beat up a 72-year-old man.
According to court documents, Troopers from State Police-Frackville were notified of an assault that allegedly occurred at Tamanend Rd. in Rush Township at about 7:30 p.m. on July 19. They went to a home in Tamaqua to speak to the victim of the alleged assault.
After speaking with the victim, they learned that 43-year-old Shayne Earle, of Delano Township, had reportedly struck him in the face numerous times and then continued to hit him after getting knocked to the ground.
The victim reportedly told police that he want to his daughter’s home in Rush Township and was waiting outside for a phone. While waiting, Earle allegedly came outside and told him to leave. After saying that he was just there to see his daughter, Earle allegedly started punching him in the face.
The punches knocked him to the ground, which is when Earle then got on top of him and continued striking him.
Police say the victim was beginning to exhibit signs of a swollen eye.
When Troopers went to the home in Rush Township where the assault allegedly occurred, they spoke with a female and a male. The male, later identified as Earle, continually yelled at the Troopers, they say.
When police asked Earle for his identification or to, at the very least identify himself, he continued yelling. Earle was reportedly given one last chance to identify himself or be taken into custody and rather than do that, he just yelled, police say.
Earle was eventually identified while being processed at the Frackville barracks. He was taken before Magisterial District Judge David Plachko for arraignment and charged with simple assault, reckless endangerment, and obstruction.
Plachko set bail at $25,000 cash and Earle was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison, where he remains as of publication, according to court records.
