Reportedly Out of Shape Schuylkill County Man Facing Burglary, Theft, and Drug Charges

A Schuylkill County man who is said to be too out of shape to burglarize a home by entering through the window is facing charges for that as well as stealing a utility trailer and lawn mower.

To make matters worse for him, when police eventually picked him up on those charges, he was allegedly in possession of a cache of drugs, including tranquilizers and fentanyl.

According to court documents, police were called to a home in E. Brunswick Township on July 5 for a reported burglary.

At the scene, the victims of this incident reportedly told police that Chad Belsak, 49, of the New Ringgold area, had been there twice that morning.

At about 7 a.m. that morning, Belsak allegedly entered the property through a basement door but was told to leave. He returned around 11 a.m., which is when he tried getting in through the window.

Belsak allegedly tried to push an air conditioner into the home and get in through the window. However, one victim told police they didn’t think that was possible because Belsak was out of shape.

At one point, Belsak reportedly yelled at a female victim one time, “You’re (bleeping) dead!” He also kept yelling, “She’s dead!”

Belsak reportedly left the scene before police arrived, driving his mother’s Jeep.

During the course of the investigation of this incident, police learned from one of the victims that Belsak had previously admitted to stealing a utility trailer from a local business and was keeping it at his mother’s property.

Police say they went to the mother’s property and did discover a utility trailer that had been reported stolen in August 2024. They also reportedly found a push mower that had been reported stolen from another local business a few days prior to the utility trailer getting swiped.

The victims of those thefts were notified by police and positively identified the stolen items.

Later in the day on July 5, Belsak reportedly contacted police. He was advised to turn himself in on the charges pending against him. Belsak reportedly said he first had to go to Hamburg and also that the victim of the burglary incident wanted to drop the charges.

Police say they contacted that victim and she said that she didn’t want to drop any charges. In fact, at about 4 p.m. that same day, Belsak allegedly drove by her home in his mom’s Jeep blaring the horn.

It was learned through he course of the investigation that Belsak had a DUI-suspended license.

Belsak never turned himself in so police went to serve a warrant on him. While en route to his residence, police say they learned that Belsak was at a mini market in New Ringgold.

Belsak reportedly told police that he went to the market to play the Skill machines. He was then taken into custody on the charges related to the allegedly burglary and theft incidents.

A search of his person at the time of his arrest led to the discovery of a cache of drugs and paraphernalia, police say. Police say they found an empty syringe, a Backwoods brand digital scale, a bag containing suspected marijuana, a small bag containing suspected methamphetamine, two bags containing a suspected tranquilizer, and 14 small baggies stamped with a Patriots logo that contained suspected fentanyl.

Belsak was eventually arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley, who set bail at $20,000 cash.

Belsak has been charged with felony burglary and attempted burglary charges along with misdemeanor offenses of making terroristic threats and receiving stolen property related to the primary incident.

He’s also facing felony theft, criminal trespass, and receiving stolen property charges related to the trailer and lawn mower incidents and because of what he had on him at the time of his apprehension, Belsak is also looking at a felony possession with intent to deliver charge.

Numerous other misdemeanor charges have also been filed against Belsak

Bail on the first two incidents was set at $20,000 cash. He was arraigned before Judge AJ Serina on the drug charges, who set bail at $30,000 cash.

A preliminary hearing on the first two incidents is scheduled for Tuesday. He’ll have to answer to the drug charges at a hearing in August.
