A Schuylkill County man was temporarily jailed last week after he allegedly grabbed a woman by the neck, slapped her, and spit in her face.
According to court documents, police in Saint Clair were met at their station by two people, including one woman who claimed she was the victim of a domestic assault, at a little before 1 a.m. on July 10.
The victim reportedly told police that she got into an argument with Brett McGuire, 54, of Saint Clair, earlier that night. She said that during the argument, McGuire grabbed her neck, smacked her repeatedly, and spit in her face four times.
Police say the victim had red marks on her face and neck.
McGuire was then approached by police at a home on S. Morris St. and he was taken into custody. Police say he admitted to spitting in the woman’s face.
McGuire was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley and charged with simple assault and harassment. Reiley set bail at 10% of $10,000 and McGuire was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison.
Bail was posted the same day and McGuire was released. A preliminary hearing in this case is scheduled for Aug. 5.
