A Schuylkill County man is facing domestic abuse charges following an alleged incident Wednesday morning at the St. Clair Family Development housing project.
According to court documents, police were called to the development on Cherry St. for a report of a man “beating” a female. Several neighbors called in to dispatchers saying the abuse was “getting really bad.”
As police arrived on the scene, they were flagged down by two women who directed them to the victim of this alleged incident. The victim reportedly told police that Tyler Zimmerman, 30, struck her multiple times in the face and head.
Zimmerman allegedly told the victim several times, “I am going to kill you,” as the abuse continued.
Police say the victim had injuries to her face, including bleeding and swelling. The victim was attempting to stop the bleeding with a tissue that was covered in blood, police say. She was taken by Schuylkill EMS for care of her injuries.
A child of both Zimmerman and the victim was being cared for by neighbors and police say Schuylkill County Children & Youth Services was contacted.
Zimmerman was taken into custody at the scene. He was arraigned Wednesday afternoon before Magisterial District Judge David Rossi and charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, and harassment.
Rossi set bail at $50,000 unsecured and Zimmerman was released.
