Schuylkill County Man Accused of Lifting Two Cans of Four Loko from Convenience Store

Clint Westwood locked up on $250 bail

A Schuylkill County man was jailed after police say he stole two cans of Four Loko from a convenience store in Pottsville earlier this week.

Police were dispatched to the Pick-A-Deli convenience store shortly after 9 a.m. on Sunday for a report of a theft. When they arrived, they spoke with the store clerk who said a man in a gray T-shirt and black pants had just taken beer without paying for it.

Based on the description provided, police believed they were looking for Clint Westwood, 39, because of several prior incidents in the last few days.

The clerk and another witness reportedly told police that Westwood had come to the store prior to 9 a.m. and asked to buy alcohol. The store is prohibited from selling alcohol prior to that hour, police say.

Westwood ignored this rule and allegedly went to a cooler and removed two large cans and left the store without paying.

The witness to this alleged incident told police he approached Westwood after he left the store and told him he needed to pay for the malt beverage. Westwood reportedly told the witness to call the cops.

Police later located Westwood. He was reportedly drinking a 24-ounce can of Four Loko and had another can of the same beverage at his feet.

Both the store and the witness said they wished to pursue charges against Westwood.

Police say this was the third consecutive day in which Westwood caused a problem at Pick-A-Deli. He was arraigned on charges of persistent disorderly conduct, retail theft, and receiving stolen property.

District Magistrate Judge James Reiley set bail at $250, which hasn’t been posted, and Westwood remains behind bars at Schuylkill County Prison awaiting a preliminary hearing on July 14.
