Police seek witness information on crash

One man died and another has been seriously injured in a two-vehicle head-on crash along Route 309 in Schuylkill County on Saturday afternoon.

According to information released by State Police-Frackville, the crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. at Route 309, Mile Hill Rd., just south of the Interstate 81 connector ramp in Kline Township.

Police say the crash happened when a vehicle driven by Lucas Forker, 46, of Tresckow, Carbon County, was headed south on Route 309 near the I-81 ramp. At that time, a vehicle driven by Thairen Finley, 51, of Lansford, Carbon County, was headed north on the highway, merging onto the interstate ramp.

Forker’s vehicle traveled across the median and both travel lanes on the northbound side of Route 309 and struck Finley’s vehicle head-on, police say.

Finley was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Forker was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for treatment of serious injuries.

Witnesses to this crash are being asked to phone the State Police-Frackville barracks at 570-874-5300.
