A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Tamaqua man accused of having inappropriate contact with a minor.
According to court documents, an arrest warrant was signed on April 10 for the apprehension of 30-year-old Harold Deronde.
Police in Tamaqua say that on March 7, they received a complaint of a sexual assault against a 10-year-old child. The victim told police that Deronde had touched them inappropriately earlier that day.
After that complaint was filed, police say Deronde came to the Tamaqua police station to “file a complaint against himself” because he’d touched the minor child inappropriately.
A forensic interview was conducted in Allentown, police say. During that interview, the child reportedly detailed how Deronde touched them and how they felt “disgusted” by what had happened.
Police say Deronde is no longer living at his last known address following the alleged incident. They’ve charged Deronde with indecent assault of a person under 13 years of age, endangering the welfare of children, and corruption of minors, all first-degree misdemeanors.
