Man Arrested on Charges He Had Sexual Relationship with Schuylkill County Teen Girl

Michael Williams, of Shamokin, facing multiple felony charges.

A Shamokin man has been arrested after police say he was engaged in a sexual relationship with a minor girl from Schuylkill County.

According to police, the ex-girlfriend of Michael Williams, 22, of Shamokin, came to their station to report the inappropriate relationship her ex was having with a 15-year-old girl. She said it concerned her because the girl was around their children when they were in his custody.

The ex reportedly told police that she was going to report the relationship to police a few months prior but didn’t because she believed it had ended.

However, on March 9, the ex told police that she saw Williams and the minor girl at Locust Lake State Park, which is when she confronted him about being with an underage girl.

Police say the ex eventually provided evidence to them – including text messages and photos – proving Williams was in this relationship.

On March 13, police say they went to the victim’s house in Mahanoy City and spoke with her parents, who said their daughter was being disciplined for being in the relationship with Williams. The parents reportedly allowed police to search the victim’s phone at that time and then police say they spoke with the victim.

The victim reportedly told police that she met Williams over Snapchat. Those conversations started innocently, she reportedly told police, until they agreed to meet in person.

That first meeting happened on Aug. 8, 2024, when Williams allegedly drove to the victim’s home to pick her up. There was no sexual contact between Williams and the minor until a second encounter when he allegedly took the victim to a vacant lot in Mahanoy City and the two engaged in intercourse in the back seat of his vehicle.

The victim allegedly told Williams that she was 18 years old at first but eventually revealed her true age at the time, 14. She told police that Williams said he was “OK with it.”

Williams and the minor allegedly engaged in sexual contact up to 20 times, either in his vehicle, at his father’s home, or parked at the Little League field in Mahanoy City. The last occurrence was on March 12, 2025, she reportedly told police.

Police say a further search of the victim’s phone revealed several videos of a sexual nature and more than 6,000 messages between the two on Snapchat.

Williams was confronted by police at his place of employment on March 18 and took him back to the Mahanoy City Police station for questioning. Police say Williams believed he was going to be questioned either about child support payments or a possible relationship with a minor.

Williams allegedly said that he broke things off with the victim he found out that she was underage but that prior to learning that, they did engage in sexual contact. Later during their interview, police say Williams eventually admitted to maintaining contact with the victim after learning she was underage because he was afraid she’d report him to police. Eventually, he allegedly said, he knew he’d get in trouble.

A warrant for Williams’ arrest was signed and eventually executed on March 28. He was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge James Reiley on two first-degree felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 16 years old, a second-degree felony count of statutory sexual assault, and third-degree felony count of corruption of minors. He’s also facing an indecent exposure and indecent assault of a person less than 16, both misdemanors.

Reiley set bail at $50,000 cash and remanded Williams to Schuylkill County Prison, where he remains, as of Tuesday evening.
