Organizers say about 150 people attended a Musk/Trump Take Your Hands Off My … rally on Saturday morning in Pottsville.
Rallygoers descended upon Garfield Square, on W. Market St. in the city to express their displeasure with the policies of the Trump administration.
Among their concerns is their belief that Trump threatens the future of Social Security and the President’s plans to dismantle the federal Dept. of Education. Garfield Square was also festooned with small Ukraine flags to express rallygoers’ support of that country in its ongoing conflict with Russia.
“What we are trying to do is capture the mood of the country,” Schuylkill County Democratic Committee Chairman Todd Zimmerman says.
Zimmerman says Trump’s policies after his two months in office don’t match his campaign rhetoric.
“He’s not really following what he was elected to do,” Zimmerman adds.
There was really no one specific policy or theme to Saturday’s rally and that worked out fine for Rebecca Shoener, of Schuylkill Haven. She says she turned up in Pottsville for the rally just to have her voice heard.
“A lot of people want us to be silenced. I will not be silenced,” Shoener says.

President Trump MOST CERTAINLY IS DOING WHAT HE Campaign on don’t shoot people have a brain seriously he is getting rid of the bad people that are in the United States. Thanks to the Democratic Party the last four years wise Up and give this man a chance to show everyone no one‘s taking your Medicare. No one‘s taking your Social Security. He’s getting rid of fraud and corruptness that’s been going on for a very long time in Social Security and Medicare . So why don’t you sit back relax and let my president and pull of other 80 million people’s president do what he said he was gonna do. He’s hardly in office for two months and you’re all freaking out. Just stop’ You are making yourselves look, I hate to say it, stupid And uninformed. there are a lot of things that you people could go out and protest against but one of them should not be the president of the United States Donald Trump where were you when Biden was ruining this country where were you when he was letting all of these illegals in to our country and now it’s up to him to get them out of this country so you are safe. I’m safe my family safe everybody’s safe. He’s trying his best. He’s doing his best. I could say so much more, but I feel like I’m bucking up against a brick wall you people out there protesting today demonstrating at least it’s peaceful, but you’re really not helping the American president to do what he was elected to do.
