A Schuylkill County man temporarily avoided arrest earlier this month by slipping out a bathroom window, only to be caught a short time later.
According to an affidavit, Kline Township police say they were dispatched to a home on Haddock Rd. on March 18 for a report of threats being made. Upon their arrival, they spoke with a man who said his son had just punched him in the eye.
Police inquired further, and the alleged victim said his son, Russell Bahrey III, 48, was yelling and then hit him. The victim also told police that his son had made threats about burning down the house.
While police were interviewing the victim, Bahrey III reportedly slipped out of a bathroom window and into the woods. Police caught up with him and took him into custody.
Bahrey III allegedly told police while he was in custody, “It’s a good thing you got me when you did because I would have went back and burned the house down.”
Police took Bahrey III before District Magistrate Judge Edward Tarantelli and was arraigned on charges of simple assault and making terroristic threats, both misdemeanors, and a summary offense of harassment.
Tarantelli set bail at $25,000 cash, which hasn’t been posted. A preliminary hearing is currently scheduled for April 2 before Tarantelli.
