A Schuylkill Haven man was arrested Thursday and charged with gun and drug offenses following the execution of a search warrant at his residence.
According to an affidavit filed by State Police-Schuylkill Haven and the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force, Austin Shaw, 30, was taken from his workplace in Auburn to his home at 120-1/2 Parkway in Schuylkill Haven on Thursday, where authorities executed the search warrant.
Shaw reportedly allowed police to enter his residence. Inside, police say they found marijuana, THC vape pens, anabolic steroids, and psilocybin mushrooms, more than $2,500 in cash, drug paraphernalia, and four firearms:
- Century Arms 7.62 semi-automatic rifle
- Mossberg Model 835 12-gauge shotgun
- SCCY CPX-2 9mm pistol
- 9mm semi-automatic pistol (with no serial number)
Shaw reportedly told police that he sells weed to between 5-10 people.
Police say Shaw is a convicted felon, having pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver charges in 2017 in Berks County, and is not permitted to own guns. Shaw said he purchased the four guns seized on Thursday illegally in Philadelphia.
Following Thursday’s search of his home, Shaw is now facing four felony gun possession charges and a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver. Police have also charged Shaw with three misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Shaw was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge AJ Serina on Thursday morning. Serina set bail at $125,000, which was not posted, and Shaw was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison pending a preliminary hearing.
