Is Schuylkill County About to Get Its First Starbucks?

Plans submitted to township note a Starbucks

The company developing a large commercial lot near Cressona Mall brought plans for that space to North Manheim Township Planning Commission members last week.

While Miller Bros. Construction is being coy publicly about what businesses are going to occupy the four lots planned for the former homes of River Inn, the Dusselfink, and other businesses, they may have inadvertently leaked the name of one of the businesses looking to set up shop there.

That would be the first Starbucks location to open in Schuylkill County. A note on the site plans marks a place for a Starbucks sign. No other businesses are named in the plans.

A call to Miller Bros. to confirm that Starbucks will locate in the commerce plaza being called Indian Rock Landing was not returned.

PJ Melocheck, engineering director for Miller Bros., told North Manheim Planning Commission last week the first business to open at the plaza could happen either late this year or in early-2026.

Melocheck said the plans were officially submitted by his company’s sister company, MBC-Carlisle.

Plans for the plaza include four lots. Three of the lots are marked as spaces for standalone restaurants. A fourth is marked as a medical office building.

Two of the restaurant lots are smaller, less than an acre each, with between 22-24 parking spaces for each business. A third restaurant space is much larger: 3.3 acres, 8,500 square feet, and 187 parking spaces.

The office building is currently planned on 3.6 acres with 105 parking spaces.

Indian Rock Landing will have two private roads through it. One of the roads will connect with the parking lot of the neighboring eye doctor’s office. There will be access to and from the Cressona Mall parking and Indian Rock Landing.

When asked by some North Manheim Township residents about what might occupy the restaurants, Melocheck said, “We’re still working with some tenants. I think I’d get a little ahead of myself to start making any major announcements tonight.”
