A Pottsville woman is in Schuylkill County Prison after police say she entered another person’s home earlier this month without permission.
According to an affidavit filed in District Court, police were dispatched to E. Market St. in the city on Feb. 16 for a report of a disturbance. At the address to where they were summoned, police say they spoke with the owner of the property who said Michelle Slater, 41, entered her home on Friday, Feb. 7, at about 6 p.m.
The victim told police that a male friend answered her door when someone knocked. It was Slater at the door and she allegedly pushed her way inside the victim’s home. When Slater entered the home, she awakened the victim’s boyfriend, who was sleeping on the couch, police say. He insisted that Slater leave.
Police say they reviewed a video that shows Slater leaving her home on E. Norwegian St. and entering the victim’s home and later leaving.
Slater was then confronted by police at her home. Police say they tried to get her to step outside but she slammed the door in an officer’s face. She then ignored more commands for her to come outside.
Slater was eventually arrested and arraigned before District Magistrate Anthony Kilker during the early morning hours of Feb. 17. Kilker set bail at 10% of $10,000 and remanded her to Schuylkill County Prison, where she remains, according to court records. She’s been charged with felony criminal trespass. A preliminary hearing is currently scheduled for March 3.
