A Schuylkill County woman remains in prison after she allegedly threatened to “rib” a man during a domestic assault.
According to an affidavit filed by Kline Township Police, a call was placed to 9-1-1 on the afternoon of Feb. 12 regarding a domestic disturbance. At the scene, police learned that Destiney Simmons, 19, of Kelayres, had gotten into fight with a man.
Police say Simmons hit the man in the face and caused “substantial visual scratches to the side of his face and neck areas.”
The victim reportedly told police that he went upstairs but Simmons, who had grabbed a knife from the kitchen, followed. Upstairs, Simmons allegedly threatened the man, saying she was going to “rib him” with the knife.
After that threat, the man said he jumped back and Simmons made “some kind of comment” but he couldn’t recall what she had said. The argument continued as they both went back downstairs, where the victim was able to call police.
Simmons has been charged with aggravated assault, a first-degree felony, and misdemeanors for simple assault and criminal mischief, and a summary offense of harassment.
She was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge Edward Tarantelli, who set bail at $25,000 and remanded Simmons to Schuylkill County Prison. Bail has not yet been posted, according to court records. A preliminary hearing is currently scheduled for Feb. 26 in Tarantelli’s court.
