A Schuylkill County man is facing charges of assault and harassment following a fight at his home on New Year’s Day.
According to an affidavit filed by State Police-Frackville, Shawn Sullivan, 58, had his sister and brother-in-law from Virginia to his home in Park Place for the New Year’s Eve holiday. The festivities had begun at about 8 p.m. that night.
All was going fine, police say, until about 4 a.m. when Sullivan started arguing with his sister about how she was raising her daughter. Sullivan allegedly began screaming at his sister and brother-in-law. At that point, they went outside but Sullivan chased them there.
Sullivan allegedly tried to punch his sister but missed. He then pushed her to the ground. In the fall, his sister allegedly broke her wrist, which she learned later, police say. Sullivan then attacked his brother-in-law punching him several times in the head.
The victims refused medical treatment, police say, and they had a relative from Mahanoy City come to get them from the scene of the incident.
Sullivan is facing a misdemeanor charge of simple assault and a summary offense of harassment. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 6 before Magistrate District Judge Anthony Kilker.
