WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY: Freezing Rain Possible Overnight Into Friday Morning

National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Schuylkill County on early Friday morning. The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. until 9 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 31.

There is a possibility of freezing rain overnight into Friday morning. A light glaze of ice is possible.

Roads and bridges can possibly become slick with ice from the freezing rain, especially in higher elevations. Any freezing rain that does fall will change to plain rain when temperatures go above freezing on Friday.

Rain is likely overnight, according to the latest NWS-State College forecast. An overnight low of 30 degrees is expected in Pottsville. It’s likely going to rain all day Friday, with up to a half inch possible. A high temperature of 45 degrees is in the forecast.

The rain should wrap up before 10 p.m. Friday but there’s a chance of rain showers between then and 4 a.m. Saturday. An overnight low into Saturday morning of 29 degrees is currently forecast. Winds could gust up to 20 mph on Friday night and through the day Saturday.
