Grover the Groundhog, Schuylkill County’s own weather prognosticating rodent, will emerge from his burrow this Sunday, Feb. 2, to let us know if we’ll see an early Spring or six more weeks of winter.
It’ll be the 19th year Groundhog Day is celebrated here. At 1 p.m. at Sweet Arrow Lake Park’s Clubhouse, Grover will let everyone know his forecast. The public is invited to attend this event sponsored by the Sweet Arrow Lake Conservation Association.
Pennsylvania Dutch fun is promised at this year’s event. That includes Die Schwador Shalle Choir perforning songs in Pennsylvania Dutch, incuding the traditional song, Schnitzelbank. There will be a Chinese Groundhog Auction featuring numerous great items.
Last year, Grover predicted an early Spring.
