A Schuylkill County man remains in prison following an alleged domestic assault in which he bit his victim in the face.
According to court documents filed by police in Ashland, the incident happened on Jan. 8 at an apartment building in the borough. Police say they spoke with the vicitm of the alleged assault and said Justin R. Richardson, 21, hit her on the side of the face and bit her on the face.
The argument, she said, started over dishes and progressed from verbal to physical. She said she went to the bedroom to get away from Richardson but he followed and that’s when he struck and bit her.
Police said they could see a bite mark on the victim’s face and that she had a fat lip that was cut and bloody.
Richardson was taken into custody at the scene and later arraigned before District Magistrate Judge Dave Plachko, who remanded him to Schuylkill County Prison on $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 29 before Judge Edward Tarantelli where Richardson will answer to charges of simple assault and harassment.
