Foul play is not suspected in the death of a Schuylkill Haven woman, who was found dead in her home earlier this week.
According to information released by State Police-Schuylkill Haven, Haley Mills died as a result of diabetic ketoacidosis. That preliminary determination was made following a forensic autopsy conducted Thursday morning by the Dauphin County Coroner’s Office.
A toxicology report is still pending, police say.
Police add that the ligature marks found on Mills’ neck upon the discovery of her body inside 20 Parkway in Schuylkill Haven on Monday afternoon were superficial and “most likely caused by prolonged positional contact at the time of death.”
“Foul play does not appear to be a causational factor to the victim’s death,” police say.
An investigation into Mills’ death is still ongoing pending the final forensic pathologist’s report and a toxicology report.
After Mills was discovered in her home on Monday afternoon, police labeled her death as “definitely suspicious” and described the status of her home as being in “extreme disarray” and that there were signs of a struggle.
A friend conducted a welfare check on Mills Monday afternoon at the request of her family. Police initially said Mills appeared to have died up to 2 days prior to her discovery.
