Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot has now grown to an estimated $1.15 billion! That kind of money could pay off a lot of your Christmas shopping bills and leave room for a dozen or two of eggs.
No one won the Christmas Eve jackpot that did climb to the $1 billion mark. However, there were four tickets on Tuesday night that matched all five white balls to win $1 million, including a ticket sold in Pennsylvania.
The $1.15 billion jackpot is the fifth-largest prize in the history of Mega Millions. To win, players must match all five white balls and a red Megaball to take home all the money. Friday’s jackpot winner could opt to have a $516.1 million cash payout instead.
There have only been three Mega Millions jackpot winners in 2024 and Friday’s is the second to last drawing this year. Thirty drawings have taken place since Sept. 10, when one winner in Texas got an $810 million prize.
A ticket sold in Florida in August of 2023 was the last billion-dollar jackpot in the Mega Millions drawing $1.602 billion. There is a 1:302,575,350 chance of winning the Mega Millions jackpot
Mega Millions is drawn on Tuesday and Friday nights at 11 p.m.
