A Frackville woman is in Schuylkill County Prison today after allegedly trying to hit a mobile phone salesman and steal his Apple Watch.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Shenandoah Police, this incident occurred at about 11:45 a.m Tuesday at the Metro T-Mobile store on S. Main St. in Shenandoah. Police had received a call from a clerk at that store who said a woman there, later identified as Rhiannon Meyer, 46, was repeatedly trying to reach behind the counter to steal his Apple Watch.
While he was on the phone trying to reach police, the clerk said Meyer kept swinging at him either as an attempt to hit him or knock the phone out of his hand. The clerk gave police a physical description of Meyer – after she had fled the scene – but it was a plastic bag Meyer allegedly left behind at the T-Mobile store that helped police identify their suspect.
The bag contained a worn out pair of black leather boots. Police say they recognized the boots as those worn by Meyer the previous day.
Meyer was arraigned Tuesday before District Magistrate Judge Anthony Kilker, who set bail at $25,000 and remanded her to Schuylkill County Prison. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 2, 2025, before Kilker, where Meyer will have to answer to charges of felony robbery and criminal trespass as well as a misdemeanor theft.
