Police in Pottsville have charged a Girardville man with threatening to blow up the Schuylkill County Assistance Office.
According to information from Pottsville Bureau of Police, officers were dispatched to the Assistance Office at Woodglen Rd. on Friday afternoon. During their investigation at the scene, they learned the George Mitchell, 42, of Girardville, was talking with staff there and uttered the comment, “I’m going to blow this place up.”
Mitchell saying that caused staff to become alarmed and notify the authorities, police say. They took Mitchell into custody at the scene.
Police say Mitchell was arraigned before District Magistrate Dave Plachko and released on $10,000 unsecured bail. He’s facing charges of making terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, and possession of a controlled substance.
