National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Schuylkill County. The Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect Sunday at 4 p.m and expires at 7 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16.
Forecasters say mixed wintry precipitation is expected during that time. Snow accumulations may be 1-3 inches plus an additional glaze of ice. Recent snow accumulation maps from NWS indicate Schuylkill County will most likely be on the lower end of those snow totals.
This wintry mix likely will cause hazardous travel conditions and that likely will affect the Monday morning commute. After temps rise above freezing on Monday morning, the precip will turn to plain rain.
