A McAdoo man had charges against him held for Schuylkill County Court after allegedly threatening to kill a police officer in Kline Township in November.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Kline Township Police, on Nov. 23 at about 9:45 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a home along Mountaintop Road there for a reported trespassing incident.
At that address, a Kline Township Police officer, Justin Farley, reported that Patrick McCarthy approached his home after being told several times that he wasn’t welcome there. McCarthy allegedly had been at that home a few days prior. That prompted a warning from Kline Township Police Chief John Petrilla that he’d be cited for trespassing.
Just before 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 23, police received a trespassing complaint at Farley’s address. McCarthy was contacted at his home and was told that he’d be cited for trespassing and that if it continued, more charges would be filed.
Well, later that day, McCarthy allegedly went back to Farley’s residence, prompting another call to police. When police met with him once again, he received a second citation for trespassing. Police reportedly asked him why he kept going back, to which he responded that he wanted to see his girlfriend.
At that time, McCarthy allegedly told Kline Township Police, “I’m going to kill Farley.”
Police asked him what he said, and again McCarthy said, “I’m going to kill him.”
McCarthy was then arrested for making terroristic threats and taken to the police station. Back at the station, police reviewed their records and saw that McCarthy was reported on Halloween for being on Farley’s property unwanted.
Charges of making a terroristic threat, trespassing, harassment, and stalking were held for court during a preliminary hearing held Wednesday before District Magistrate Edward Tarantelli. McCarthy remains in Schuylkill County Prison, where he’s been since Nov. 24, on $100,000 cash bail.
