For most people, Listeria poisoning symptoms are mild and go away in a few days on their own. Those symptoms include fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cramps, and constipation.

If you’re poisoned by Listeria, rest and drinking plenty of foods is the best treatment.

Immuno-compromised individuals and pregnant women could experience more severe symptoms, like headaches, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions.

Pregnant women could experience flu-like symptoms and Listeria poisoning could lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery, or infection of a newborn.

Any symptoms of Listeria poisoning could happen three weeks after exposure to the bacteria.
