Woman Who Spat on Saint Clair Officer and Said She Had AIDS Also Facing Retail Theft Charge

The woman accused of recently spitting on a Saint Clair police officer during a traffic stop of a vehicle that wasn’t hers is racking up the charges.

According to State Police-Schuylkill Haven, Ashley Long-Breininger, 37, was arrested on Aug. 18 for shoplifting from Weis Markets at the Pottsville Park Plaza.

Police say Long-Breininger stole $139.04 worth of merchandise from the grocery store.

She’s now facing a retail theft charge for that run-in with police.

Less than two weeks after that arrest, Long-Breininger tallied more charges during a traffic stop on Ann St. in Saint Clair on Aug. 30. That incident landed her in Schuylkill County Prison.

Saint Clair Police say Long-Breininger interfered with a traffic stop on a U-Haul truck driven by Cassidy Robert Long, who police knew to have a suspended license at the time.

While the U-Haul was stopped, Long-Breininger rolled up behind the scene on Ann St. and nearly drove into the back of a Saint Clair Police patrol vehicle.

She then got out of her vehicle and approached the scene. Long-Breininger went into the U-Haul briefly and emerged with a black purse.

Police seized the purse and then attempted to take her into custody. During the struggle, Long-Breininger allegedly spat on a Saint Clair officer and then told him she has hepatitis and AIDS.

Court records show Long-Breininger posted $25,000 bond and was released from Schuylkill County Prison on Sept. 11. She has a preliminary hearing date before District Magistrate David Plachko on Oct. 1.
