Schuylkill County’s representative in Congress issued a scathing review of the moderators in Tuesday night’s Presidential Debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
The debate was the first between the top two contenders for the White House in the Nov. 5 General Election. It was moderated by ABC News anchor David Muir and Linsey Davis.
Meuser, to put it bluntly, did not appreciate the job Muir did moderating, especially when he attempted to fact-check Trump’s responses, someting he didn’t do for Harris. He called it “an outrageous display of bias and a gross distortion of the truth.”
“By selectively referencing misleading FBI data and falsely claiming that crime is down, Muir is perpetuating a dangerous narrative that ignores the reality of the crime wave that has surged under the Biden-Harris administration,” Meuser said.
Meuser went deeper on crime data. He says the FBI has acknowledged “issues” with its data collection for the crime stats Muir was citing when he fact-checked Trump during the debate.
“It is irresponsible for someone in Muir’s position to ignore the totality of the data and downplay the increase in crime simply to fit a political narrative. Pennsylvanians see the reality every day — from products locked behind glass in stores to the surge in violent crime in their neighborhoods,” Meuser says.
Further, Meuser invited Muir to Washington, D.C., to see the surge in crime he’s saying definitely exists.
“It’s happening here, and it’s happening in cities across the country. Vice President Harris is asking Americans to ignore the sticker shock at grocery stores, to turn a blind eye to rising unemployment, that our border is secure, and to dismiss the undeniable reality that our streets are more dangerous under her watch. She’s telling us not to believe our lyin’ eyes, but the American people know better. We see it, we feel it, and we are living with the consequences of their failed policies every single day,” Meuser says.
