Schuylkill County Fall Cleanup & Recycling Event Starts After Labor Day

Here’s everything you need to know about the event …

The 2024 Schuylkill County Fall Cleanup and Recycling Event starts the day after Labor Day and runs for the first two weeks of September.

This event is an opportunity to rid yourself of scrap tires, appliances, scrap metal, and other bulky items.

The Fall Cleanup is open to any Schuylkill County residents and will be held at select locations in the area on specific dates between Sept. 3-14.

This article will cover all you need to know about this event and the locations where you can participate.

Items Accepted

The following items will be accepted for free at the drop-off locations participating in the Fall Cleanup and Recycling event:

  • Non-freon bearing appliances: stoves, washers, dryers, water heaters
  • Bicycles
  • Barbecue grills
  • Metal furniture

There is a fee for the following items:

  • Tires: only automobile, light truck, and motorcycle and RV tires will be accepted. There is a fee of $2 per tire with a limit of 20 tires per load and no more than 2 loads per customer. Municipalities may also drop off tires and will be charged the fee. They’re requested to make an appointment with the host sites for large loads.
  • Freon-bearing appliances: air conditioners, refrigerators, and dehumidifiers will be collected for $10 each.
  • Bulky items: mattresses, box springs, rolls of carpet, doors, and windows will be collected for a fee of $10 each.
  • Furniture: sofas and over-stuffed chairs will be collected for a fee of $5 per cushion.

Items Not Accepted

No electronics will be collected at any of the participating sites.

Household hazardous waste like paints, solvents, cleaners, and poisons will also be rejected.

Any questions regarding the disposal of items should be directed at Schuylkill County Office of Solid Waste and Resource Management by calling 570-628-1220.

Proof that you live in Schuylkill County is required to drop off any items at participating sites.

Here is a breakdown of the sites participating in the county’s Fall Cleanup and Recycling event, the dates and times they’ll be accepting items, and pertinent contact info for each site:

Week of September 2

C.E.S. Landfill
