An early morning fire at The Brickhouse in Orwigsburg has forced the closure of several businesses in the shopping plaza where it’s located.
Firefighters were summoned to 705 W. Market St. in Orwigsburg at around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. That’s the location of The Brickhouse, an anchor business in the Federal Square shopping plaza.
According to Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Joseph Hall, the kitchen of the popular restaurant did sustain fire damage and there is considerable smoke damage.
A cause of this morning’s fire, according to Hall who had just concluded his assessment of the scene, is not known at this time.
The Brickhouse posted a message to its Facebook page on Wednesday informing followers that the business will be closed until further notice.
Wednesday morning’s fire also forced the closure of several other businesses in the shopping plaza.
Tony’s Meat Market, right next door to the restaurant, was forced to close its door to customers on Wednesday. Workers there said the store suffered some smoke damage as a result of the incident.
The same is true for China King, a Chinese food restaurant, and Phoenix Physical Therapy, each of which is closed Wednesday. Staff for the physical therapy location were still busily working to inform clients of the current situation.
It’s hoped that that business will be open on Thursday.
The Fine Wine & Good Spirits liquor store and The Cigar Box remained open on Wednesday.
