A Pine Grove woman suffered serious injuries and had to be transported by helicopter to a hospital following a crash along Route 61 earlier this month.
Police suspect she was driving under the influence.
According to information released today by State Police-Schuylkill Haven, the crash happened back on Aug. 3 at about 6 a.m. in the area of the former Penske Truck facility on Route 61 North in North Manheim Township.
Police say Emily Setlock, 27, of Pine Grove, was traveling northbound on the highway, in the right driving lane. Through investigation, police say tire marks on the roadway indicate that Setlock’s vehicle went onto the east shoulder of the road while trying to negotiate a right curve.
Setlock failed to negotiate that curve and crossed into the passing lane of the highway before striking the concrete median nearly head-on, police say.
A medical helicopter was used to transport Setlock to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.
Police say they observed signs of impairment on Setlock at the scene and are awaiting blood toxicology results as part of their investigation into this crash on Route 61.
