Schuylkill County Woman Jailed for Persistently “Yelling Nonsense” in Public, Resisting Arrest

Tamaqua has a no nonsense policy.

Police in Tamaqua arrested a homeless woman last weekend for allegedly “yelling nonsense” on multiple occassions, which disturbed neighbors.

According to affidavit filed in District court, police were called to the 200 block of Orwigsburg St. shortly after noon on July 28.

When police arrived, they encountered Jennifer Dipietro, 41, whom they say had been “yelling nonsense” for about five minutes at the rear of a home there.

Police say they warned Dipietro at that time if she persisted in yelling, they’d have to arrest her and charge her with disorderly conduct. Dipietro allegedly told police that she understood.

A little more than an hour later, police were again called to the same address on Orwigsburg St., this time a call coming from another resident there.

Police went around back of the house from where the call was purportedly made. Once again, they ran into Dipietro. And once again, she was “yelling nonsense,” according to court papers, this time from the steps of the back porch at that home.

The responding officer writes in his affidavit that he hopped a fence and approached Dipietro as she continued yelling nonsense.

Police allegedly reminded Dipietro of the warning dispensed just about an hour earlier and took her into custody.

Dipietro allegedly resisted arrest a bit before a little force was used by police to place her in handcuffs.

As Dipietro was headed to the responding Tamaqua police vehicle, police say that the woman continued to yell nonsense.

Dipietro’s arraignment was handed by District Magistrate James Reiley, who remanded her to Schuylkill County Prison on a percentage of $5,000 bail. She has not posted that as of Friday morning.

A Preliminary Hearing is scheduled before District Magistrate Stephen Bayer on Aug. 6 where she’ll answer to misdemeanor charges of reisisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
