An Auburn woman who was seriously injured in a crash along Route 183 in Schuylkill County last week has died.
According to information released Friday by State Police-Schuylkill Haven, 74-year-old Zulakha Rodrigues succumbed to the injuries she suffered in a head-on crash on Route 183 in Wayne Township back on July 17.
Police say Dauphin County Coroner Donald Machamer pronounced Rodrigues dead at 3:42 a.m. on Friday, July 26.
According to the investigation report into the crash, Rodrigues was driving northbound on Route 183 at about 1:15 p.m. on July 17 when her vehicle crossed over into the southbound lane.
At that time, a vehicle driven by Carl Miller, 67, of Bernville, Berks County, was headed south.
Rodrigues and Miller’s vehicles impacted at their 11 o’clock positions, police say. The impact of the crash pushed Rodrigues’ vehicle back into the northbound lane and into a guiderail.
Miller sustained minor injuries in the crash and was taken from the scene to Geisinger-St. Luke’s Medical Center by Schuylkill EMS.
Rodrigues was taken to Milton S. Hershey Medical Center by medical helicopter, where she succumbed to injuries she suffered a little less than 9 days later.
