A Philadelphia man whom the Drug Enforcement Administration was tailing into Schuylkill County saw charges against him related to an incident earlier this year in Minersville held over for County court.
District Magistrate David Plachko on Tuesday determined the prosecution presented enough evidence during a Preliminary Hearing to advance charges against Jeffery Dees, of Philadelphia, to Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas.
Dees is facing a long list of charges related to an incident that began in Minersville back on May 22.
State Police say Dees involved them in a high-speed chase after a traffic stop was initiated on him on that date.
According to police, they had learned earlier that the DEA was tracking Dees’ whereabouts into Schuylkill County. At the time of his arrest, Dees was driving a light blue Ford Taurus into Minersville.
A State Trooper spotted him and tried to stop him in the parking lot of the Dollar General in Minersville. After the Trooper got out of the vehicle to make contact with him, Dees took off.
During the pursuit, Dees allegedly dropped a pound of methamphetamine on the street.
The chase ended after police used multiple PIT maneuvers to stop his vehicle in the middle of the Pottsville-Minersville Highway.
Dees was found to have a suspended license and was in possession of suspected marijuana, a glass smoking device, and multiple IDs and debit cards.
Back at the State Police barracks, a DEA agent said they had placed a tracking device on Dees’ vehicle.
He faces numerous charges, including felony fleeing or eluding police, possession with intent to deliver, and escape, as well as several traffic violations.
Dees is free for now after posting bail on June 11.
