Needed Rain on the Way, But is it Enough?

Not a complete washout

National Weather Service estimates much of Schuylkill County is 5-8 inches shy of normal rainfall over the last 90 days.

While it is expected to rain a little bit today and several days this week, no day looks like a complete washout at a time when Schuylkill County absolutely needs one.

Here’s the latest 7-day forecast for Pottsville from National Weather Service …

Monday: 🌥️⛈️ Showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly before 4pm, followed by likely showers and a possible thunderstorm after 5pm. The sky will remain mostly cloudy with a high near 78°. Winds will be calm, turning south around 6 mph in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 60%, with new rainfall amounts generally less than a tenth of an inch, although thunderstorms could bring higher amounts.

Monday Night: ⛈️ Showers and possibly a thunderstorm are expected mainly before 2am, with a continued chance of showers and thunderstorms thereafter. The low will be around 67° with a south wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. The chance of precipitation increases to 80%, with new rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, but potentially higher in thunderstorms.

Tuesday: 🌤️⛈️ There’s a chance of showers with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Conditions will be partly sunny with a high near 84°. Winds will be calm, becoming west around 5 mph. The chance of precipitation is 40%, with minor rainfall amounts expected unless augmented by thunderstorms.

Tuesday Night: 🌥️⛈️ The chance of showers and thunderstorms continues. It’ll be mostly cloudy with a low around 67°. The chance of precipitation is 40%.

Wednesday: 🌥️⛈️ Showers and thunderstorms are possible throughout the day, with increased likelihood after 2pm. Mostly cloudy with a high near 82°. The chance of precipitation is 60%, with rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, higher in thunderstorms.

Wednesday Night: ⛈️ Showers and possibly a thunderstorm are likely before 8pm, followed by a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8pm and 2am. The low will be around 68°, with a 60% chance of rain.

Thursday: 🌤️⛈️ Showers and possibly a thunderstorm are likely after 2pm. Partly sunny with a high near 84°. The chance of precipitation is 70%.
