Holy Ascension Orthodox Church in Frackville is inviting the community to participate in the annual blessing of vehicles on Sunday, July 21. The event will follow the Divine Liturgy, which begins at 9:30 a.m. This tradition is held each year on the feast day of the Prophet Elijah.
This year’s event is notable as it coincides with the Archpastoral visit of His Eminence, Archbishop Mark, Archbishop of Philadelphia and the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania. Archbishop Mark will be the main celebrant for the Divine Liturgy, serving alongside Fr. Kirill Zawatski, the parish’s new rector and a Coal Region native. The vehicle blessings are scheduled to begin at approximately 11:30 a.m.
Local first responders from Frackville and neighboring towns in Schuylkill County have been invited to have their service vehicles blessed.
“All are welcome to participate in this beautiful tradition of the Church,” said Fr. Kirill Zawatski. “We are also honored to host our Archpastor, His Eminence Archbishop Mark, and look forward to sharing this blessed feast day tradition with our community.”
