Much of central Pennsylvania, including Schuylkill County, faces a slight risk of severe weather on Tuesday after a brutally hot day.
After temps reach the mid-90s today, the risk of showers and severe storms increases into the afternoon and evening hours.
National Weather Service says some of the severe thunderstorms could feature wind gusts higher than 60 mph, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, heavy rain, and hail greater than an inch in diameter during these storms.
Schuylkill County remains under a Heat Advisory until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Tuesday: 🌤️⛈️ The day begins sunny and heats up to a high near 94°. A chance of showers and thunderstorms develops mainly after 4pm, some of which could be severe. Winds will be calm, becoming southwest at 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 30%, with rainfall generally between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, though thunderstorms could bring more.
Tuesday Night: ⛈️ Evening continues with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11pm. Some storms could be severe. Skies will be mostly cloudy with a low around 71°. Winds from the west around 5 mph will become calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Wednesday: 🌤️⛈️ A dynamic day with a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 3pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 3pm and 5pm, followed by likely showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. Partly sunny with a high near 89° and winds from the west at 3 to 7 mph. The chance of rain is 60%, with similar rainfall amounts expected as on Tuesday.
Wednesday Night: ⛈️ Showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly before 7pm. The evening will be mostly cloudy with a low around 68°. Light west wind. The chance of precipitation remains at 60%.
Thursday: ☀️ The weather clears up to mostly sunny skies with a cooler high near 82°.
