The End of the Heat Wave Before the Next One

Heat Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. tonight.

The Heat Advisory for Schuylkill County continues into a second day as does the heat wave that’s persisted since at least the Fourth of July.

However, it appears this will be the last day of the second heat wave for Schuylkill County this year.

And that break from the heat wave appears it’ll last a whole two days.

Starting on Saturday, we’re probably looking at a string of days into the middle of next week that’ll hit 90 or higher.

Here’s the latest 7-day forecast for Pottsville from National Weather Service …

Wednesday: 🌤️⛈️ The day starts with only a slight chance of showers, increasing to a higher chance of showers and thunderstorms after 10am. Expect partly sunny skies with a high near 91°. Southeast winds will pick up, ranging from 5 to 10 mph and increasing to 11 to 16 mph in the afternoon, with gusts up to 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%, with new rainfall generally less than a tenth of an inch, though thunderstorms could bring heavier amounts.

Wednesday Night: ⛈️ Showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly before 2am. The sky remains mostly cloudy with a low around 70°. Winds from the southwest at 7 to 15 mph, gusting as high as 21 mph. There’s a 70% chance of precipitation, with rainfall amounts between a quarter and half an inch possible.

Thursday: 🌤️⛈️ Morning may bring a few showers, mainly before 8am. The day will be partly sunny with highs cooling to around 86°. West wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%, with minimal new rainfall expected.

Thursday Night: 🌤️ A slight chance of showers continues under partly cloudy skies. The low dips to around 66° with calm winds in the evening. Precipitation chances are at 20%.

Friday: 🌤️⛈️ Partly sunny with a chance of showers throughout the day. Highs near 84° and a 40% chance of precipitation, with rainfall amounts possibly reaching between a tenth and a quarter of an inch.

Friday Night: 🌤️⛈️ Evening might bring more showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2am. Partly cloudy with a low around 68°. The chance of rain stands at 40%.

Saturday: 🌤️⛈️ A chance of thunderstorms early before 8am, then more showers and thunderstorms possible after 2pm. Mostly sunny with highs approaching 90°. Rain chance at 30%.

Saturday Night: 🌗⛈️ Evening could see some showers and thunderstorms before 8pm, then mostly clear skies. The low will be around 67°, with a 30% chance of precipitation.

Sunday: ☀️ Sunny and hot, with a high near 93°.

Sunday Night: 🌌 Mostly clear with a mild low around 69°.

Monday: ☀️⛈️ Hot and sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs near 92°, with a 30% chance of precipitation.

Monday Night: 🌤️⛈️ Partly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low around 71°, with precipitation chances continuing at 30%.

Tuesday: ☀️⛈️ Another sunny and hot day, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs pushing near 93° and a 30% chance of rain.
