The Pennsylvania Game Commission is now accepting entries for the 2025 Working Together for Wildlife Design Contest. This year, artists are invited to submit paintings of black bears, which will be the featured species for the contest.
Artists must submit their paintings in specific sizes: either a horizontal format of 22 ½ by 15 inches or a vertical format of 15 by 22 ½ inches. Each painting should also have a 3-inch-wide white border or mat, and should be left unsigned and unframed. The deadline for submissions is 4 p.m. on July 22, 2024, at the Game Commission’s headquarters located at 2001 Elmerton Ave., Harrisburg. There is a $30 non-refundable entrance fee required for each entry.
The contest winner will have their artwork featured in the 2025 Working Together for Wildlife fine art print series. In addition to this honor, the winning artist will receive $4,000 and 50 artist proof prints. The winner will also need to sign up to 750 limited edition fine art prints at a signing event at the Harrisburg headquarters.
Other cash prizes will be awarded to the top finishers. The artist with the second-best painting will receive $750, the third-place winner will get $500, fourth place will earn $400, and fifth place will take home $250. If there is a tie, the prize money for the tied positions will be combined and divided evenly.
After the competition ends and the winners are declared, artists will have the opportunity to view all the contest entries and can pick up their own paintings following this viewing period.
The contest is open only to Pennsylvania residents. Detailed rules and additional information about the contest can be found on the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s website at www.pgc.pa.gov.
