When we heard there’s a 50/50 chance of rain showers during Saturday’s Kielbasi Fest in Shenandoah, it definitely put us in mind of a song.
Since songwriting isn’t exactly in our wheelhouse, we decided to do the next best thing … ask ChatGPT to do it.
So, we fired up the old ChatGPT 4o polka machine and asked it to write a polka song titled Don’t Rain On My Kielbasa.
We’ve gotta say, it did a pretty remarkable job on its first try so we didn’t ask for any corrections.
Our only regret is that we didn’t have access to a Mac user so we could actually hear this song being sung by the AI voice. It’s a new feature on the latest ChatGPT release but it’s currently only available to some Mac users.
So, we’ll have to revisit this at a later date. But if you know polkas, you can pretty much hear the tune in your head as you read the lyrics below:
Don’t Rain On My Kielbasa Polka by ChatGPT 4o
(Verse 1)
I was strolling through the market, on a sunny Saturday,
Had my eye on some kielbasa, oh, it made my day.
Picked the finest one around, oh, I was feelin’ grand,
Then I saw those clouds a-gatherin’, oh no, not this again.
(Chorus)
Don’t rain on my kielbasa, oh no, don’t you dare,
I’ve been dreamin’ of this sausage, can’t take it anywhere.
Keep those clouds up in the sky, let the sunshine stay,
Don’t rain on my kielbasa, oh please, not today.
(Verse 2)
I took my prize to the park, with a blanket on the ground,
Had my mustard and my sauerkraut, people gathered ’round.
But the sky turned dark and dreary, drops began to fall,
Don’t rain on my kielbasa, it’s a plea to one and all.
(Chorus)
Don’t rain on my kielbasa, oh no, don’t you dare,
I’ve been dreamin’ of this sausage, can’t take it anywhere.
Keep those clouds up in the sky, let the sunshine stay,
Don’t rain on my kielbasa, oh please, not today.
(Bridge)
I danced a little polka, to keep the spirits high,
Hoping that my joyful steps would clear up the sky.
But the rain kept on a-pourin’, my hopes began to fade,
Just a man and his kielbasa, seeking shelter and some shade.
(Chorus)
Don’t rain on my kielbasa, oh no, don’t you dare,
I’ve been dreamin’ of this sausage, can’t take it anywhere.
Keep those clouds up in the sky, let the sunshine stay,
Don’t rain on my kielbasa, oh please, not today.
(Outro)
So here’s a little lesson, for you folks who love to eat,
Always check the weather, before you find your seat.
And if you see the clouds a-comin’, just remember what I say,
Don’t rain on my kielbasa, oh no, not today.
Don’t rain on my kielbasa, oh no, not today.
