Penn State-Schuylkill Baseball, Softball Teams to Compete at Small College World Series

Play begins on Monday for both teams.

Penn State-Schuylkill’s baseball and softball teams are both competing in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Small College World Series next week in DuBois.

The local squads each qualified for the tournament in their respective sports after completing impressive seasons in 2024. 

PSU-Schuylkill Baseball

The PSU-Schuylkill baseball team enters the double-elimination World Series as the 7th seed. They’ll play a first-round game against 10th seed Florida National on Monday, May 13, at 10 a.m. The winner of that game advances to play 2nd seed Cincinnati-Clermont.

During the regular season, PSU-Schuylkill compiled a 31-14 record, including a 16-4 record in the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC). 

In the PSUAC Championship last month, PSU-Schuylkill advanced beyond Opening Weekend with a 5-4 win over PSU-Brandywine. 

However, at Championship Weekend, PSU-Schuylkill dropped a pair of games, first to PSU-DuBois, 4-2, and then to PSU-Mont Alto, 5-0.

PSU-Schuylkill Softball

The PSU-Schuylkill softball team enters the World Series as the 3rd seed and will play its first game against 6th seed Lyon on Monday, May 13, at 8 p.m. at DuBois. 

During the regular seasoon, PSU-Schuylkill finished with a 24-14 record, including an 11-7 mark in the PSUAC. 

At the PSUAC Championship, PSU-Schuylkill compiled a 2-2 record but did not advance to the Championship round, coming up just short in a 6-5, 10-inning loss to eventual champ PSU-Brandywine.
