First Pottsville Outdoor Markets Event of 2024 is This Saturday

A passenger train from Reading arrives at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Pottsville Outdoor Markets is back for another year and it starts this Saturday.

Last year, the monthly collection of pop-up shops downtown drew big crowds and dozens of vendors. This year, organizers have stepped up their efforts and plan even more markets for 2024.

The first one is scheduled for this Saturday, April 13, at Union Station parking lot at the end of Progress Ave. in Pottsville. The market opens at 10 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m.

There are more than 60 vendors ready to sell their goods to visitors to the first Pottsville Outdoor Markets event of 2024.

“We plan to have over 60 vendors at each of our markets including farmers, food trucks, craft vendors, and several other vendor types, including several new small businesses which are joining us this year,” Jonathan Morris, one of the Pottsville Outdoor Markets organizers, tells The Canary. “The market is free admission and we plan to have free parking available. We look forward to seeing everyone at the market!”

In addition to locals that descend upon the open-air market, a passenger train from Reading Blue Mountain & Northern will be making its way to Pottsville’s Union Station at about 11 a.m., with the vendors and visitors there to greet them.

This is one of several markets in 2024 that will feature a train arrival at Union Station.

“Pottsville Outdoor Markets is excited to be part of the 2024 train excursions scheduled to arrive in the City,” Morris adds.

For people who need a ride to Saturday’s event, organizers have made special arrangements with Skookie Rides to get people to and from. Rides are available for as low as $10 and appointments for a ride can be made at 570-291-8131.
