The combination of strong wind and heavy rain is taking its toll on Schuylkill County’s electric infrastructure.
As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, more than 1,600 homes and businesses served by PPL Electric are without electricity.
Both weather factors are expected to die down over the next 24 hours in the coal region. Wind gusts on Wednesday night are expected to max out at 30 mph.
