Heavy Rain Likely in Schuylkill County Saturday

2 inches of rain likely, maybe more

As much as 2 inches of rain – and potentially more – is expected to fall on Schuylkill County today.

According to the latest National Weather Service forecast, rain is likely to move into the area sometime during the morning hours on Saturday. It’ll start as showers but continually get heavie r as the day progresses into the evening and nighttime hours.

It’ll be a bit of a cold rain, too, with temps struggling to get above the mid-40s through the day and into the 30s at night.

By Sunday, the rain moves out but the colder air sticks around. In fact, Sunday will feel almost wintry with high temps in the low-40s and lows below freezing.

It’ll also be very windy on Sunday with gusts up to 47 mph expected.

Wind gusts could top out near 30 mph on Saturday, too.

Schuylkill County 7-day Forecast

Here’s the latest 7-day forecast for Pottsville from National Weather Service …

Saturday 🌧️💨: The day’s booked solid with showers, especially after 11am. Hitting a high near 44° with a southeast wind at 13 to 16 mph, gusts might reach 29 mph. It’s a rain guarantee at 100%, expecting a hefty downpour between a half and three-quarters of an inch.

Saturday Night 🌧️💨: Rain continues its tour, mainly wrapping up before 1am but not without a heavy encore. Temps take a slight dip to 37°. The east to northeast wind keeps the flags flapping at 12 to 17 mph, gusting up to a stormy 30 mph. Rain’s still a sure thing at 100%, with potential flood-worthy amounts between 1 and 2 inches.

Sunday ☁️💨: Mostly cloudy skies try to calm the storm, with a high chilling at 42°. But hold onto your hats because it’s breezy with a west wind at 21 to 24 mph, gusts threatening to hit 40 mph.

Sunday Night ☁️🌬️: The clouds aren’t going anywhere, and the temps drop to around 30°. The wind decides to show off, blasting from the west at 23 to 29 mph, with gusts potentially roaring up to 47 mph.

Monday ☀️🌬️: Breaking through the wind, mostly sunny skies with a high near 46°. Still, it’s gonna be a windy one.

Monday Night 🌌💨: Mostly clear skies with a low around 34°, the breeze deciding to stick around for a bit longer.

Tuesday ☀️: Full sunshine makes a grand entrance, warming us up to a lovely 57°. Seems like a perfect day ahead.

Tuesday Night 🌤️: Transitioning to partly cloudy with the thermometer settling at 39°. A mild night in store.

Wednesday ☀️: Mostly sunny skies keep the good times rolling, with highs reaching a more generous 62°.

Wednesday Night 🌤️: Staying partly cloudy with a low around 42°. Keeping it pretty mild through the night.

Thursday 🌤️: The partly sunny pattern holds, aiming for highs again at a comfortable 62°.

Thursday Night ☁️: Mostly cloudy skies move in, bringing lows to around 45°.

Friday 🌦️☁️: The week might end with a bit of a splash, mostly cloudy with a high near 62°. There’s a 40% chance of showers, so might want to keep an umbrella close by.
