A Pine Grove man died and two Schuylkill County women were injured in a head-on crash along Route 443 outside Pine Grove on Friday afternoon.
According to information from State Police-Schuylkill Haven, the crash happened shortly after 3 p.m. on Route 443, just east of its intersection with Waterfall Rd. in Pine Grove Township.
At that time, police say, a vehicle driven by Tyler Carl, 27, was headed east on the highway at a high rate of speed. Police believe Carl’s vehicle moved into the oncoming westbound lane of the road and crashed into a vehicle driven by Kathleed Roshannon, 54, of Minersville.
Roshannon had one passenger on board with her at the time, Janet Jones, 87, of Pine Grove.
Carl was taken by medical helicopter to Geisinger-St. Luke’s Hospital near Orwigsburg where he was later pronounced dead from the injuries he suffered in the crash.
Roshannon and Jones were each taken by medical helicopters from the crash, too. Roshannon was transported to Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center with serious injuries and Jones to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, with suspected minor injuries.
