State Police are reporting a fatal vehicle crash in Cass Township Friday evening.
Details are limited on this crash, as of the police’s initial report of it at 1 a.m. Saturday. They say more details “will be available once a next of kin notification has been made.”
The report from State Police-Frackville is marked as a fatal crash report.
What police are saying about the crash is that at about 7:30 on Friday evening, a vehicle was northbound on Route 901 near intersections with Live Oaks Rd. and Old Phoenix Rd.
The driver of that vehicle was trying to negotiate a right curve in the road “at a high rate of speed” while attempting to pass “numerous vehicles on the left.”
At the same time, a vehicle with two passengers on board was headed south on Route 901. That vehicle was struck head-on by the northbound vehicle passing the others also headed north.
The driver of the northbound vehicle was able to remove himself from his vehicle and did not report any injuries, police say.
However, the people in the southbound vehicle sustained serious injuries. Police say the driver and two passengers remained in the southbound vehicle immediately after the crash. The driver of that vehicle was extricated from it and administered first aid.
Both of that vehicle’s passengers were eventually removed from the disabled vehicle and transported from the scene by emergency medical personnel, police say.
As of their first public release, police do not indicate which person involved in this crash may have been killed. It’s only being reported as a fatal crash (as of 1 a.m. Saturday).
