A Schuylkill Haven girl will sing the National Anthem to open the 2024 Pennsylvania Farm Show in January.
Pennsylvania Agriculture Sect. Russell Redding announced the results of the Farm Show’s social media competition, “Oh Say Can You Sing”, to determine who would sing the Star Spangled Banner on the first morning of the annual Farm Show in Harrisburg.
The top vote-getter is Thea Sten, 13, of Schuylkill Haven.
On Facebook, Sten’s audition post of the National Anthem received the most votes. She will sing at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, to kick off the Opening Ceremony of the Farm Show.
Sten was chosen as 1 of 25 finalists from a group of 55 qualified entries in the competition. The finalists were picked by a panel of judges. Their choices were uploaded to the Farm Show Facebook page.
The video that received the most votes won the competition. Other winners will open each day of the Farm Show with their rendition of the album.
If you can’t be at the Farm Show in person next month to see Sten’s performance, you’ll be able to see it live on the Farm Show’s Facebook page.
