UPDATE: Mahanoy City PD reports Sladek is now in custody.
A Schuylkill County man is currently on the run from police in Mahanoy City after he reportedly strangled his mother.
According to Mahanoy City PD, 40-year-old James Sladek reportedly asked for money from his mother, 69. And when she apparently did not give him what he wanted, he strangled her.
Sladek is also wanted on charges of assault and harassment but is also facing a second-degree felony strangulation charge.
Mahanoy City PD believes Sladek is driving a 2003 Dodge Stratus with the registration KYG-3386.
